Suncsreen Review: Alba Botanica Hawaiian Natural Sunblock

I was looking for a new natural sunscreen when I saw Alba Botanica's Hawaiian Natural Sunblock. I was very pleasantly surprised and will be purchasing this sunscreen from now on. Here's what I like about it in a nutshell:

-Non greasy.
-No streaks.
-Water resistant.
-Light pleasant scent.
-Natural ingredients.
-Absorbs easily and quickly.

To be honest I was just expecting it to be a typical sunblock and I am pleasantly surprised because this is the first sunblock I've purchased and felt like would become a staple product for me. I found mine at Target (I got the last one at my store) but you can find it on Amazon also.

Until Next Time,

I Heart Gregory Gorgeous & Update

Hi everyone! Wow. I haven't posted in the past two weeks and I am so happy to see that I reached my milestone goal for this year. I now have over 1,000 page views. I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has come to visit the blog and I look forward to expanding and including more of my own original content in the future! Another thing I wanted to update before getting to today's content is that I haven't forgotten about the Makeup for Dark Skinned Women series. I have content lined up for the series but things have been so hectic that I have not had time to actually create the posts (plus I've been sidebarring and focusing on other content that I love). I'll get back to the Makeup for Dark Skinned Women series next month. Now let's get on with today's content:

Sometimes I just go to YouTube for a pick me up and Gregory Gorgeous never fails with his reviews and diva-like attitude. This is a video about his life and overcoming obstacles. He really is my favorite reviewer and I'll include one of his reviews below as well so that you can experience his reviews too.

Beauty by Lauren Conrad-Book Review

Product DetailsIf I had to choose between Lauren Conrad’ Style and Beauty, I would choose Beauty. I really enjoyed Style but I enjoyed Beauty even more. After reading her Beauty book I realized that my interests are geared a little bit more towards makeup than fashion (only by a little J). I loved how she showed everything with pictures. Lauren does a good job of highlighting different makeup related topics including:

-Contouring

-Highlighting

-Reviewing The Different Makeup Brushes and their Uses

-Hair

I loved the diversity in the models she featured in her book as well. It was refreshing to see that she was conscious enough to address concerns for specific complexions and hair types. She made makeup seem so simple by breaking things down step-by-step. I will be adding this book to my own collection as well in the future. The last section of the book that features styles by decade (e.g. the 30’s, 40’s, and 70’s) is also fun! Check out Lauren Conrad’s Beauty Here.

Beauty Book Review-Makeu-Up Secrets by Jemma Kidd

Jemma Kidd’s Make-Up Secrets is by far the best book about makeup I have read so far. It was organized so well and an easy and enjoyable read. I love how Jemma breaks everything down in steps in both text and photos for you to follow along. I have a really awesome library nearby (that’s where I get most of my books) and happened to come across some great beauty books including Jemma’s Make-Up Secrets. I am going to actually buy my own copy of this book to hold on to as a reference. My favorite chapters where the lipstick and eye shadow chapters. She provides readers with some really great tips and suggestions that I’d never considered before. The other thing that I thought was priceless was the list of her favorite products in the back of the book. That is worth the purchase of the book itself to me. I’m an information junkie and she feed my need to know more about beauty and makeup. If you are someone who needs something tangible to guide you as you figure out makeup, pick up a copy of this book. I also suggest this book for young girls who are just getting started with makeup for the first time. Jemma’s book will help them avoid some of the mistakes that many of us make when we are experimenting with makeup for the first time. I give Jemma Kidd Make-Up Secrets  five out of five stars!

Book Review: Lauren Conrad Style

I have had the pleasure of coming across two of Lauren Conrad's books in the library. Today I am reviewing Lauren Conrad Style. I found this book to be easy and enjoyable to read. Lauren gives good advice and also mentions some great websites in Lauren Conrad Style. She includes tips related to:

How to Build Your Wardrobe
Accessories
Mastering Your Closet (Organization)
Dressing for Work/School/Travel

If you are someone who is looking for simple advice on how to build your wardrobe or are going through a makeover (like I am), this book gives you good advice that is ideal to start with. Her book is great for building your own unique style foundation or blueprint and expanding from there. The photos in the book are gorgeous as well! I checked out Lauren Conrrad Beauty and will do a review of that book as well in an upcoming blog post.

This month is wig month! I am so excited to be bringing you a collection of great videos about wigs. Everything from wig making, to coloring, and wig reviews will be featured during this month's series. I will be focusing primarily on lace wigs in this series and hope that you find it helpful! Let's get started with a few lace wig reviews:

I'll start with a synthetic lace wig review by Ms. Nitraa B.

SassyTress is featuring a human hair wig review by Sassy Secret in this video.

I wanted to feature both a synthetic wig and human hair wig review so that you could really see the difference between the two. Wigs van be quite an investment and it might be hard to know which is best for you. I like both synthetic and human hair wigs. In my opinion it just depends on the quality of the vendor.

See You Next Time,
Kim

Impress Nails Review

How Impressed Was I by Impress Nails?
I first found out about the Incoco press on manicure brand and about a year or so later Impress Nails and Sally Hansen started advertising their press on manincure brands. Impress Nails is definitely good about promoting their products because over the past year I have received two free samples of the nails pictured above. Here are my overall comments and review of Impress Nails:

  • They lasted 3 days.
  • I like this color, it really compliments my skin tone.
  • I like how easy they were to apply .
  • One nail came off a day after applying them but I replaced it with an extra nail from the kit.
  • They were also a bit too small for my nail beds (if someone was looking at my nails really closely they could definitely see it).

See 9:14 for Kandee's Review of Impress (it's similar to mine).

Overall I give Impress Nails a 3 out of 5. I would suggest this kit to someone with smaller hands/nail beds. I love that it's quick and easy and look forward to experimenting with another press on manicure brands in the future.

If you're interested in seeing how to apply Impress Nails take a look at this video by
Ashley Elizabeth.

Simply follow the directions on the packgage. One thing she forgot to mention is that you should clean your nails using the alcohol wipe they include in the kit before applying the nails. As you can see, they fit her perfectly however I did not have the same experience so don't assume that these nails are one size fits all!

Comment and let me know about your experience with Impress Nails or any other press on manicure brand below.

Kardashian KHROMA Weigh In

What Do You Think About The New Kardashian KHROMA Colection? Comment Below :)

So you may have heard about the Kardashian's newest venture, Kardashina KHROMA, their makeup colllection. I love me some Kardashians and look forward to trying their products. In the meantime, one of my absoulte favorite YouTubers had this to say about the collection:

I Love Me Some Judy :)

Judy tells it like it is and she usually has positive things to say about the products she tries. Either way her reviews are always honest. I think I'll try one of the eye shadow pallettes in the future. Let me know what you think if you've tried the Kardashian KHROMA collection. You can find their products online at ULTA.
